In September, the Finnish consortium led by Crosshill visited Lockheed Martin's unit in Owego, NY. The company visit to Lockheed Martin in the USA was the second within the framework of the Finnish F-35 Indirect Industrial Participation (IIP) project, after visiting Fort Worth, Texas last November.
Besides the status update and planning meetings of the IIP project, the parties also reviewed possible future collaboration opportunities. The Finns also got to see some of the Lockheed Martin’s manufacturing and laboratory facilities in Owego, including the production line of MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, the platform dedicated for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare operations, where Owego site integrates their mission processors and other advanced electronics. The sites of interest were chosen to serve technical content and goals of the ongoing project.
“Collaborating with a company like Lockheed Martin possessing such a long experience and deep know-how of defense technology is a great privilege to us, also setting us an example of the level to operate on”, says Crosshill’s CEO Jouni Hautamäki.

“It was particularly interesting to see the production, manufacturing, and laboratory facilities. We were impressed by the quality of the work we saw and were pleased to see many similarities and the same processes as in our own operations”, continues Heikki Lehikoinen, COO of Crosshill.
Many thanks to Lockheed Martin for great hospitality, productive discussions and the very interesting tour of the facility!
The F-35 IIP project between Lockheed Martin and Crosshill, DNV Cyber, Habilito and Xiphera will last until April 2027.
