The Crosshill Story
Foundation & Early Years
Crosshill was founded in 2014 with a dedicated focus on designing embedded systems and devices, providing related services to its clients. At that time, the company was located in Eastern Finland, near Joensuu and Outokumpu.
Strategic Shift to Defense
In early 2017, Crosshill relocated to Tampere. This move marked the beginning of the company’s strategic focus on highly secure electronics, combining expertise in embedded systems, cybersecurity, and military technologies. In 2016, Crosshill joined the AFDA initiative, aiming to enter the defense market more seriously.
Entering Global Defense Programs
At the same time, HX campaign activities were beginning in Finland, creating opportunities for business-to-business meetings between OEMs and Finnish companies. In 2018, Crosshill moved to new facilities in Janka, providing a more secure environment for its growing operations.
From Regional Engineering To International Defense Projects.
A major milestone was reached in 2022 when Finland selected the Lockheed Martin F-35 as its future fighter aircraft. Crosshill’s indirect participation in the project was also selected as one of 17 initiatives to move forward — marking the company’s first major step into the global defense industry.
That same year, Crosshill participated in FAT EDF projects led by Kongsberg Norway, focusing on federated cyber range testing.
In 2023, Crosshill joined the HYDIS2 EDF project led by MBDA, targeting interceptor concepts for ballistic threats. The project also focused on quantum-safe cryptography and the implementation of interceptor electronics.
Future-Ready Facilities
In August 2025, Crosshill moved into its current state-of-the-art facilities. The new premises support future growth while also providing advanced laboratory capabilities and secure environments for demanding projects.
